How does a website work
People out there think that the working of a website is some kind of a rocket science, but the fact is its really simple.now let me help you with this..
A website or a Domain (www.name.com) is something wich can be easily purchased online from providers like Godady, Bigrock, Net4india, etc.The cost of a .com site for instance in India is just Rs.1500 including tax for a period of two years, after which it requires renewal.
Coming back to the matter, now what happens when you type in www.website .com??
Before I get into that let us get acquainted with a few things to understand the working.
In order to browse the net we always use web browsers like google chrome or internet explorer etc.
Next we have a Domain Name Server or a DNS which is like a big book or a registry which has written in it addresses of all the websites around the globe.i.e. a DNS shows the location details of the servers that a particular website is hosted.
A Server is a place where the websites are hosted. So each website that we see and hear around us are hosted in different servers across the globe.Earlier people used to host their website on their personal computers or laptops where there is a risk in case of power failure ,your website stops functioning.
But now we can buy server space online where you can host your website on some servers by amazon or google. All these come under the domain of cloud computing.
So coming back to how a website works-this is simply what happens when you search for a domain or website (eg.www.website.com)

- Your web browser asks the DNS regarding the address for www.website.com;the DNS then sends back the address(i.e. www.website.com) is on server dubai) to your web browser.
- Your web browser then goes to the server (server dubai) that the DNS has pointed to and you get to see the website that you have searched for.
This is just a simplified explanation and please feel free to comment regarding any clarifications or any other technical details in depth regarding this matter.
