What is Quantum Computing ?
Simply speaking quantum computing is a new kind of device based on the science of quantum physics. Quantum physics is a part of physics that describes the very smallest things in the universe (molecules, atoms, subatomic particles etc..) And quantum computing works by controlling the behavior of these molecules, atoms or subatomic particles. A quantum computer is not just a powerful version of our current computers, just like the light bulb is not a more powerful candle.
Classical computing encodes information into bits, each bit represents 0 or 1. These 0s and 1s are on/off switches that translate into compute functions. But quantum bit or qubit has a fluid or non binary identity. It can exist in a superposition or combination of 0s and 1s with some probability of being 0 and some probability of being 1 i.e. its identity is on a spectrum
For instance to solve a maze using classical computing, it tries all outcomes one after the other performing a large number of calculations. On the other hand in quantum computing this maze is solved in an instant using its entangled quantum states with very fewer calculations.
